It was our first visit and we cannot wait to go back. The food was amazing and service friendly and fast. Wayne was especially helpful and made our first night there even more memorable!

Randomly decided to drop in and was pleasantly surprised. Three of our party got the special of Crab Quesadillas while the fourth got a Steak Quesadillas. We also got two house salads to share. The food was pretty good, as well as a good value. We don't drink too much soda, and at the counter there was a big pitcher of ice water which was nice. They were very accommodating and made two corn tortilla quesadillas instead of one flour tortilla quesadilla, for two of our party who are trying to eat less gluten. I could have done with a little less cheese, but I'm guessing most people would be happy with tons of cheese. The quesadillas came with decent guacacomle, which was nice because usually that's extra, however sour cream is $0.50 extra. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience with some decent food.

Good $9 special burritos, for example chorizo + shrimp. However, they got our order wrong twice. Also, we asked for a burrito with ONLY rice and sour cream for our kid & got charged $9 for that too. Really?

Alright, so El Dorado has been one of my and my families top picks for years out of all Rehoboth. So this hurts my heart a little to write this. A buddy and I went June 24th a Wednesday evening, excited since I had talked it up a little. The gentlemen who took our orders was extremely welcoming and helpful. The faces at and behind the counter were those I did not recognize, but not a reason not to go through with the order. My friend ordered the much raved about and house favorite fish taco as well as the shrimp taco. I got the beer battered tofu, my go to menu item. While waiting we hit up the salsa bar which is normally on point but this particular evening had completely missed the mark. Everything was under seasoned and may have been made fresh at the beginning of the week but was left standing. My favorite, the pickled onions and carrots were too spicy to even eat and also had overstayed their welcome at the bar, resulting in an unpalatable topping. My friend was very pleased with the shrimp taco but as for the rest of the meal, seasoning for the fish, rice and beans was MIA and made the comment that someone must have forgotten the beans on the stove but served them anyway. My beer battered tofu could have used a bit more flavor but the crispiness was there and cooked perfectly. I truly hope we just caught these guys on an off night and that this is not the standard fare. Not all hope is lost, will be coming back.

Great hole in the wall place (and clean too). I will definitely return when I'm in the area. The owner was very helpful in recommendations; I had the fish and shrimp tacos. Delicious and tasty! The salsa bar is also yummy and self serve....just wish they gave a few more chips with the taco entree. I've already recommended it to a friend and will go back! Try the fish tacos.

Excellent food, fish tacos and the Puerto Vallarta terrific. Highly recommend. Will defiantly come back.

Wow if you want good Mexican in Rehoboth this is the place to go. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, the margaritas will have you longing for more and the flan will leave a sweet flavor in your mouth. The drive out of town on the costal highway will get you free parking and a gracious owner host who is there with a smile and a laid back beach attitude.

A year later, and my review is unchanged. Still hoping they'll find some space near downtown Lewes, though.

Great food but even better service! Took a road trip down to Virginia Beach and stopped in for something new. We were immediately welcomed by the friendliest owner! I wish I lived a little closer so I could be considered a regular!

Stopped in here for a quick lunch while on vacation. Ordered two beers and the Mazatlan burrito and a chicken quesadilla. Both were awesome and ready really quickly. The chicken in the chicken quesadilla tasted like it was marinated in something; it was so juicy. Great, quick lunch.

Just had some amazing Tacos at El Dorado. Thanks Clarabell for the great service and wonderful Tacos.

  • Laurie H.

The Crab Quessadilla is awesome! Full of crab meat, not a sprinkling of crab essence I expected. The rice and beans are ok, improved by the habenero onions, and salsa bar. Casual place, bottles of nonalcoholic Sangria, which I love because they use real sugar, no corn syrup nastiness. The place is very casual, almost Taco Bell casual, but don't be fooled, the food is top quality. Prices are higher than I expected but FULL if seafood! Yay!

  • Andrew W.

Shrimp and chorizo taco was delicious! Margarita was tasty and well balanced. Friendly owner, very casual inside. Order at the counter and they'll bring the food over to you.

I am an official fan of El Dorado! Very consistent. Had the two taco combo with double pinto beans as a side. Skipped the rice...not because it is bad - just trying to cut down on carbs. The staff at El Dorado are always happy, helpful, and willing to help you with your Spanish. This local business is committed to ensuring you have had a GREAT meal. Have only had lunch at El Dorado, but that's good enough for me. El Dorado is a local favorite.

Amazing hole in the wall spot. We had the crab quesadilla and mahi burrito which was fantastic.Super fresh seafood. They have a small menu. The guacamole isn't great. Too watery with not enough avocado. Would strongly suggest stopping by for a quick bite when entering or leaving rehoboth/ Dewey

Back for another visit and it's as good as ever. Great seviche and the spicy pork burrito was delicious. Truly local and unforgettably good.

Located on JJ Williams strip shopping off of route 1. I had the 2 fish taco combo w/rice & beans, hubby had shrimp chorizo burrito w/rice & beans and daughter had chicken quesadilla. Two bottled drinks and sangria for $33 and change. Plates cleaned off. Order, sit and they bring you food. Casual and laid back. My favorite part is the fixins bar. Shredded cabbage, Pico de gallo, lettuce, sauces and picked onions. You won't leave hungry.

A great surprise. Why not more busy I don't know. Little slow but will return. My drink came well after my lunch

After moving from California to Virginia early this year, and after sampling the "mexican" food near where I live, I was heartbroken and worried that I'd made the wrong choice. On a whim, I saw the reviews for El Dorado and made the three-hour trek to judge for myself. I was not disappointed at all. The fish taco was perfectly fried, on a slightly toasted corn tortilla with real cabbage and real crema sauce. Simple and perfect. The salsas have just the right amount of spice, and the beans and rice were cooked just right. The only downside to this place is the drive I now have to take just to satiate a craving.

    (5)
  • Barbara D.

I get in the Mood for Mexican every so often and I go here for the food. I really like the fish tacos and the Cancun burrito. Last time in, I ordered a sangria it was ok but I like a real glass and fruit floating around in mine. I do not know if the location is a problem but it would be so much better if there was waiter service and a didn't feel like a Mexican version of a Chinese take out. On the other hand, it is nice to be able to afford to come here. A few miles away in Lewes is another Mexican place that has very good food and charges $10 for a sangria and $15 for fish tacos and has no lie two to three hours long wait all year round, and that's with meters and city parking! So obviously people are willing to pay and wait for a certain kind of dining experience. The food at El Dorado is good and fresh, back of the house 5 star, front of the house 3 star.

Living in Los Angeles I have had my fair share of Mexican food. Every year I come to visit family in Rehoboth and I always have to make a stop at El Dorado. The owner Aquiles is always there to greet you with a smile and is so genuinely appreciative of his customers. Amazing food, great service, and the such authentic Baja cuisine I feel like I'm at home every time I sit down to eat here. Keep up the good work Aquiles!

  • David M.

Truly, the best fish tacos you will find anywhere. Every time I visit my family down this way, I make it a point to stop by for lunch. Thankfully, I don't live any closer or I would be here seven days a week. The fish is cooked to perfection on a perfectly warmed corn tortilla. The fresh cabbage is chopped perfectly and always crisp and fresh. Their cream is perfect and I like the spicy version as well. Always a treat if you are looking for a real deal fish taco. Best ever, and the staff and owner make you feel like you're at home. Can't wait to go back.

I have been eating the shrimp (grilled) tacos for 2 years. They are great. Finally tried the burritos. Both the shrimp & scallops and the chorizo & shrimp burritos are fabulous. ElDorardo is a gem,

Super friendly staff. Excellent food. Clean bathrooms. Easy parking. Colorful artwork , extra brownie points for the Frida picture. Always nice to eat at a family run business. The fish tacos were really good. We ate here two days in a row- second time around we came early to have a fresh salad bar.

I've eaten Mexican in some real dives, but this is definitely in my bottom 10. Steak in tacos was rubbery, rice and beans were cold. My wife summed it up best by saying this is what hospital Mexican would taste like!

    (1)
  • Chris M.

Atmosphere...ick. Food...meh. Prices...meh. We had the much raved-about fish tacos and I was totally unimpressed. This place is right around the corner from our development and I'll drive for ther to La Tonalteca any day.

    (2)
  • Dara S.

not thrilled. Fish taco was very good, as was the chicken quesadilla. But the feel is very much a limited number of pre-prepped ingredients trying to make a full menu via mix-and-match. We would come back for the fish tacos, but not much else.

    (3)
  • Jasmine G.

Best fish tacos I've had since San Diego! Hubby had the Cancun burrito which came with Mahi and scallops and he loved it! The Teenager had Baja shrimp burrito and he really liked it and said that the combination of cold lettuce and hot shrimp was really refreshing. Our youngest son had the chicken quesadilla and he liked it and he is our picky water and had allergies. The manager was very, very nice and we will eat there again when we return to Rehoboth Beach!

    (5)
  • Tina P.

Super friendly staff! Really liked our fish taco & loved the shrimp taco! Our margaritas were excellent as well!! Add an outdoor patio or a steel drum band & we may have hung out here all evening!!!

  • John W.

I eat here every time I go to Dewey Beach. Freaking amazing! At first I thought scallops in a burrito was an awful idea but definitely was wrong. The Cancun burrito with grilled mahi and scallops Is so damn good I think I'm addicted. I want to try the crab quesadilla but can't bring myself to not get this Cancun burrito. Just so on point my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

best fish tacos in the DelMarVa (can't believe i just used the word delmarva) area~ i'm gonna go ahead and also give them the best Shrimp Taco too, why not! the batter is perfectly seasoned - and it highlights the freshness of the fish and shrimp. um, btw, their shrimp are massive - so satisfying. i am so thankful they have a little salsa bar with essential items like white sauce, spicy sauce, not-so-spicy sauce, extra cabbage (it's like they can read my mind!)... oh and yes - HUGE, huge fan of the habanero pickled onions... they should bottle it and then sell it... and then sell all of it to meee! spent a long weekend in the rehoboth beach area and ate here every day - i'm not kidding.

    (5)
  • Samantha M.

Delicious! Everything is fresh, and you can taste that it is. The ceviche is to die for. I love the shrimp tacos, the fried shrimp is perfectly crunchy. I have never had a bad meal here and I think I might be able to only eat here for the rest of my life and die happy!

  • Philip S.

Stopped here after reading other Yelpers. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! The fish tacos are UH-MAZING! The freshly breaded and prepared Mahi was delicious! The Rib had the chicken Quesadilla and was pleased as well. Definite stop when in the Rehoboth Beach area! If you have never been adventurous enough to try fish tacos, get out of your comfort zone at El Dorado - you won't be disappointed!

  • Devonshire B.

Excellent lunchtime taco joint! The steak taco and mahi taco were delicious and definitely filling. The beans and rice on the side were also great. It was a perk for them to have a salsa/sauce bar as well. Loved trying the different flavours. If you're in Rehoboth visiting, this is a must for a good lunch.

Best Mexican in the Lewes, Rehoboth Dewey area! Get the fish tacos or the yummy sampler!

  • Rebecca S.

Happy to find this place in an area with a lot of bad chain food restaurants. It's not the best Mexican I've ever had but it's good and a solid find for the area. I don't eat seafood so my experience isn't the norm. I had the pork taco which was great, the cabbage and salsa were great. The rest of my table had the shrimp taco, fish taco and lobster burrito and they said it was great. I was a little disappointed w the sangria, the margaritas were a better option. Wish we got the guac. Overall a solid 3.5, I'll be back w knowledge on what to order better next time.

We've lived in San Diego, so naturally our standards are pretty high when it comes to Mexican food. Nevertheless, when we saw there were fish tacos were in our vicinity, we couldn't resist. After spending a day at the beach, our San Diegan urges got the best of us, and we were not disappointed. Some of the crispiest, most flavorful fish tacos we've ever had. And even the rice and beans were delicious. For those who have a hankering for fish tacos after a long day at the beach, this is your place.

    (5)
  • Robert T.

We went just for the tres leches cake. It was worth it-flavorful, cooling, creamy, and not cloyingly sweet. The owner was so nice, we wished we'd eaten a full meal there.

    (5)
  • Sheri A.

Excellent, authentic food at reasonable prices. They are famous for their fish tacos, but as a nonseafood eater, I prefer the spicy pulled pork tacos, which are hearty, nicely spicy and filling, esp. when paired with a side of rice and beans. Don't miss the fixins bar with various FRESH salsas, sauces and sides for the tacos and burritos. If ambience is a major issue for you, you may not like El Dorado...there isn't much ambience, but the food makes up for it.

We were driving through Rehoboth on our way home from the beach and with so many dining options, I looked to Yelp for help (it rarely lets me down). This was the highest reviewed place and since my family loves Mexican food it was a no-brainer to stop here. We were not disappointed! It is a fast casual restaurant where you order your food and pay at a counter and then they bring it to you. First impression; bright and cheerful atmosphere, loved the colorful art on the wall. Clean restrooms, friendly staff. We ordered a shrimp taco, pulled pork taco, chicken quesadilla, rice/beans, chips & guacamole and a shrimp and chorizo burrito. My husband said it was the best burrito that he has ever eaten and we eat burritos once a week at home. The tacos were sublime. I loved how they battered the shrimp and the pulled pork had just the right amount of spice. One of our favorite things was the salsa/condiment bar. The only thing I wasn't in love with was the guac and that's only because I don't like tomatoes and it was full of them. The flavor was good though and I did eat some. I only wish that we had an El Dorado in our town so we could eat there once a week. We will always visit when we are down at the shore and next time I'll bring $20 for one of their cool Day of the Dead t-shirts.

delicious, authentic (as far as i know ... i've never actually been to Mexico) and the friendliest owner ever. SO GOOD. Soft-shell crab burrito or Cancun burrito .... Unreal! And the owner is so nice and helpful!

Can I only give one star? Why can't I give no stars? Do not waste your time, food is tasteless and overpriced. I paid 8.50 for two tacos that are so small I count it as only one. The famous fish taco, one little piece of fish that they said was Mahi Mahi but tasted like any old frozen fish stick. Avoid this place.

    (1)
  • Ben S.

I thought this place was very good. I got chicken and steak tacos while the wife got shrimp and fish. We both enjoyed our food. My son got the chicken and cheese quesadillas. Tacos come with a side if rice and beans along with a salsa bar and the quesadillas come with chips

    (4)
  • Melissa D.

Everything I ate could have made in my microwave. I had the steak quesadilla--4 pieces of what tasted like horse meat with a slice of sweaty cheese, enveloped in crusty tortilla that crunched like glass. Only thing I enjoyed was the jarrito, which is why I'm not giving this 1 star.

    (2)
  • Paul W.

Fish/shrimp tacos were good but not great. I would come back for those. Menu is limited. Would have liked to see refried beans. Was disappointed with the pico de gallo. It had no flavor and tomatoes are in season. I liked the pickled veggies (habanero, onion, and carrots). Staff was very friendly and service was fast.

    (2)
  • David K.

Great food. The kids loved the shrimp tacos and home made fish sticks. The wife loved the sangria. Definitely worth going a couple of blocks off the main strip.

  • Kay B.

We've enjoyed the best restaurants and this small and unassuming Mexican establishment ranks right up there with the best of them. Everything was made right there. It was fresh and delicious and the owner - Achilles could not have been more gracious. We really loved it. It's a little off the highway - we highly recommend that you make the turn. P. S. I eat vegan so I was very happy that they served grilled or fried tofu tacos. And had other veggie/vegan options. Wonderful to find in the Rehoboth area. Go here - you won't regret it!

  • Maria L.

When ordering burritos here, don't expect a humongous Chipotle burrito, in fact, it's just a right size burrito. I ordered the Mazaltan burrito. It had picco de gallo, shrimp, Mahi Mahi, & other good things. On the side it came with Spanish rice and pinto beans, like all entrees. There is also a mini topping bar in the center of the restaurant, where the yummy marinated onions lay. The onions are soooo goood, although it says that it is spicy, it isn't really, but it was really tasty on my burrito. Even though my burrito cost $9, I enjoyed every bite of it.

    (4)
  • Katy S.

Good food. Burritos are on the small side, I suggest getting an appetizer. Sangria is a smallish plastic cup is $4. Stay away from specialty burritos, or just request a different sauce. Their white sauce reminded my husband of ranch dressing... on a burrito? Seriously? Otherwise not a bad dinner.

  • Clay G.

Awesome as always. Achilles and El Dorado never disappoints. Shrimp tacos are the best anywhere!

  • Jason B.

El Dorado stumbled into my life a few years ago, and I can't get enough. I get there several times a year, and always looking forward to the next time. Aquilles greets you with a warm smile and friendly vibes, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Their go-to are the fish tacos. Lightly breaded, fried, and simply dressed with cabbage and sauce. These tacos (along with their shrimp counterparts) are spectacular. If it's your first time there, get the two or three taco platter with rice and beans, dress them with the tasty condiments from the salsa bar, sit down and enjoy. The burritos are great, my fave is the Puerto Vallarta. Great guacamole and awesome ceviche to go with homemade tortilla chips. The specials are written on the longboard above the register, don't miss them when ordering. I've recommended El Dorado to several people, and every single person has told me how much they loved the place. So if you're on the Delaware Seashore, and you're looking for a good place to eat, do yourself a favor and go to El Dorado.

  • Nathan S.

We had seen the great reviews and had high expectations for this place. Unfortunate we were highly disappointed as the food was way overpriced and just bland. I asked for something spicer than the sauces they had they said try the habanero pickled onions. They were not even hot as a jalapeño. And it's not just about not being "spicy" it's about not having any flavor...like at all...as in NONE! They need to learn seasoning is ok and won't kill them! The cheese dip was processed cheese that you could get out of a can. The rice and beans were just gross! I'd not suggest this place at all and quite frankly can't understand these great reviews!

    (1)
  • P M.

Go to Taco Bell - it is MUCH better. Had the fish taco since everyone raved about it in previous reviews. It was a tortilla with a fish stick and some white cheese. My daughter had the cheese quesadilla. She sai it was the worst CQ she ever had and we have eaten at plenty of Mexican and TexMex establishments. I will never ever ever eat here again. Never!!

    (1)
  • Ed W.

Simple atmosphere, very good food. Reasonable price. Order over the counter and clean up after yourself. My wife and I had the taco combination and it was great. She had the fish tacos with rice and beans and I had the spicy pork tacos. Cheese quesadilla for our daughter. Chips and salsa.. all for under $30. The people were friendly also. We highly recommend.

Great people and good food, especially the mahi taco and the guacamole!

An update: since I wrote this review I heard from the owner twice. They clearly care very very much about their restaurant, and want their customers to have a good experience. Apparently they have some specialties which probably account for the high reviews. I just didn't know what they were and just ordered something familiar. I suspect that if you engage the counter staff, they will steer you in the right direction. In summary, if I ever pass through Rehoboth again, I will return and give it another try, if only because finding a place where the owners care, especially in a vacation town, is a rare experience.

Stopped in to El Dorado on our first day in Rehoboth Beach. Lucky for us it was close to the hotel. Very delicious food. Shrimp tacos awesome burritos and crab quesadillas. Stop in if you get a chance off the beaten path and well worth it. We ended up going back again during our five day trip. It was not a fluke this place is great.

This is a good place for some quick cheap mexican seafood. They do have very good salsa. I had the The restaurant is neat and clean. I had the Mazatlan burrito, which had grilled shrimp and fish. I ought the mayo chipotle sauce kind of over powered the burrito. My husband had the crab quesadilla which he thought was good, . Plenty of crab and cheese in it. For dessert, we had the flan, which was delicious.

The hands down best fish tacos around! Aytpical from the restaurant biz, here you order and pick up when its ready. Plenty of seating and cervesa but no wait staff, which allows the focus to be on food and great prices. An awesome little out of the way place that is a must every time I come to the area. Try anything off the menu and I doubt you'll regret it.

Holy Cow! Greatest Mexican food I ever had! Between me, my wife, cousin, and his fiancée we had fish tacos shrimp tacos, chicken burrito and their sides and all of us agreed it was the best. No one was left unsatisfied. I would reccommend this place to everyone, but I kinda want to keep the secret for myself!

After an afternoon of shopping, we were looking for a nearby restaurant for dinner before hitting the road home. We found El Dorado on Yelp and had to try it. The fish and shrimp tacos were outstanding. They were perfectly fried, crisp, moist and sweet. They come with a topping of finely shredded lettuce and a mysterious white sauce (?). You can add one of their salsas. I tried the tomatillo salsa ... Spicy and delicious. The chicken and cheese quesadillas were also good. We did not care for their style of guacamole ... No garlic and needed salt. Will definitely go back for the tacos.

I live about 1.5 miles from El Dorado and pass by multiple times each week. I had a taco there when it first opened and it was okay. I have followed the rave reviews in the local newspapers and yesterday stopped by for lunch. I have never eaten a fish taco (seems weird for someone used to tex-mex cuisine), but the greeter/owner encouraged me to try it. I had a chicken taco (just okay) and the fish taco ... delicious. The sides (rice and beans) were even good. I'll be returning often for a quick and inexpensive lunch. Next time I'll try to margarita, too.

Crab quesadilla was good. Chips were stale. Not sure how the other reviews are so good. 3% fee for credit card.

Went here on a whim late on a Sunday evening and based on Google Local reviews. We were not disappointed. When we walked up to the counter and said it was our first time, we were told that their fish tacos are what they do best. They were awesome! My husband and I got combos of their fish tacos (made with mahi) and one other (steak for him & shrimp for me). All were excellent. The fish tacos were lightly breaded and fried & served with shredded cabbage and their mild house sauce. The combo meals came with rice & beans. They also have a condiment bar with a variety of salsa & sauces to add even more depth to the flavor of your already mouth watering meal. In addition, we ordered their "triple theat" appetizer sampler: civiche, queso, & guacamole. The queso & civiche were great. The quac was a bit oniony for our tastes. That was minor and we will highly recommend El Dorado and return if we are ever in the area again. The staff was very helpful and pleasant, too - a bonus with the fabulous food.

Disclaimer: I grew up in San Diego, where fish tacos are a food group. I moved to the east coast four years ago and since have eaten fish tacos in dozens of Mexican establishments, searching for something that came close to home. As such, I'll take it personally when people don't realize how good El Dorado is. These are the best fish tacos I've had on the east coast--comparable to anything I've had in San Diego, maybe even better. The guy who complained about styrofoam? Obviously has never eaten authentic Mexican food. Anyone who has would know that the best Mexican food is found in the most unexpected places: strip malls, most often. The fancy stuff is shit. I came here expecting mediocrity, as most places on the East Coast provide. What I got was a taste of home: fried fish, not grilled (HUGE pet peeve. It's just not the right way!); corn tortillas, not flour; cabbage, not lettuce; white sauce, not pico. Perfection. Nearly cried. Came back the next day and tried the shrimp tacos, which were equally divine. Citizens of Delaware: I hope you appreciate this gem, because I know I won't find anything like it back in New York.

"The McDonald's of Mexican restaurants. The food was OK. The prices were reasonable. More of a cafeteria than a restaurant." Those 5 star reviews certainly had low expectations!

I would not consider myself an extremely knowledgeable person when it comes to Mexican food or TexMex. I would consider it more a pleasureable hobby. At least two or three times a week my girlfriend and I find ourselves chowing down on the nearest NON-TacoBell we can find. As it so happens we were at the near by Rehoboth Tanger Outlets for a day of spending my money (we dont live in the area) when we suddenly got the grumbles. I hopped on Yelp and sure enough EL Dorado was the best reviewed place in the are AND it was on our way back home to Philly. When we first walked in I will say it did not strike me as very Mexican themed. But I quickly realized that I could give a rats ass about the aesthetic. I was here for food. Sure enough this place delivered. The guy that rang us up was clearly the owner and clearly passionate about his food. He encouraged the fish tacos, and as my girlfriend soon found out it was with good reason. I on the other hand had the pulled pork burrito. The prices were definitely cheaper than we would have spent in a restaraunt and I threw in a freshly made margarita. When the food came out we dove right in. By the time I finished the first half of my burrito I was ordering something else. It was that good. So we got a half steak quesadilla to go. He offered authentic mexican sodas in flavors I would not have expected and they were delicious. I think the only complaint I have is that the margarita was a little small (but also really damn good). Obviously you have to get passed the aesthetics because it is clearly not what a mexican themed restaraunt TYPICALLY looks like. But I will say I have learned a hard lesson today. I would eat this food out of a cart on South Street if he made it. The flavors are perfect. The portions are just right. I will say if I find myself in that area again. El Dorado has my business.

Agree completely with other (positive) reviews: The fish and shrimp tacos are as good as they say, and the owner makes you feel right at home. A great inexpensive TexMex place.

If you are in the mood for great fish tacos don't miss this place. The fish and shrimp tacos are prepared with a light but crunchy batter and the sauces offered are flavorful and tasty. This is not a fancy place but the food is premier. We were greeted by the owner (I think) who was welcoming and friendly. In all we spent $35 for dinner and drinks for two people. Give this one a try.

I'd eat here every day if I lived in Rehoboth! Visitin family for the holiday weekend and we went based on Yelp and we LOVED it. We had a big party and the owner quickly welcomed us, all of our kids and made a great table for us. We all had excellent meals and appreciate that everything is fresh and made from scratch here. It really can't be beat- we had burritos, fish/shrimp/pork tacos- all excellent and the salsas are, too-my fave: the tres leches. Amazing. We had dinner here Friday and were back for lunch Saturday. Highly recommended- fresh, healthy, authentic Mexican fare. Indeed, a gem.

Amazed by the other reviews. This place is average at best. My girlfriend did not appreciate the beans and rice in styrofoam bowls.

Fresh seafood Mexican food in the Baja style. Laid back atmosphere with wonderful fresh seafood. A hidden jem.

Baja style fish tacos, best on east coast. El Dorado uses corn tortillas for their fish tacos, beer battered mahi, fresh cabbage, and amazing salsas to produce one of my favorite meals of all time. Every time I am in Rehoboth I have to stop by for some tacos and sangria. There is a vegetarian option on the menu, I believe--a burrito with tofu-but I always opt for two fish tacos, rice and beans, and GUAC. They will grill the fish instead of frying it so your tacos are nice and light. I don't know what they do to the guac, but it is the best I have ever had. I pile on the toppings from the free salsa bar. Be sure to try the marinated onions-spicy and delish. Plenty of other options, including chicken, steak, shrimp tacos, and yummy quesadillas. Also, the house made flan is to die for. Everything is fresh and fairly healthy. This place is off the beaten tourist path but just minutes from downtown Rehoboth. Skip the fake Mexican places in town and go to El Dorado!

Saw the billboard on Rt 1 and figured we would give it a try. Great food and friendly service, I highly recommend the pulled pork tacos. We will definitely be back!

Good food, okay prices in a place with not much atmosphere. The shrimp tacos were best, then the fish tacos. Veggie burritos can be made with tofu, which is a nice touch. Skip the bland beans & rice as a side dish. We really liked the salsa that the owner explained was his mother's recipe.

We checked the reviews while passing through the area and decided to check it out. The food was great- authentic and fresh (not "fast food"). The margaritas were FANTASTIC - best anywhere! Excellent guacamole! The decor is nothing special but the food and service are stellar!

We always come here on our way back to DC, and we are never disappointed. The food is great and the staff is very friendly. We were actually in town for the week, and stopped in for dinner. Since it was the off season we weren't sure of they were open, to our surprise they were and were doing a great business. We actually met the owner, and he was probably the friendliest person we ever met. He greeted us with a smile and was really appreciative that we were there to eat. Definitely a place to eat!

I plan my outlet shopping around this place. I discovered it when we were starving shopping at the outlets and turned to Yelp for help. They have amazing fish tacos with such light breading. Even better, they have a toppings bar with pickled onions, cabbage, lettuce, and multiple types of salsa, including avocado salsa. Go big with the taco combo and you'll get the deliciously simple rice and beans. As icing on the cake, they have fun surf magazines to peruse as you wait the few minutes for your food to arrive. I visited twice in August, and this is a new "must go" whenever I get to the Delaware beaches! Highly recommend.

A few weeks ago, while visiting the area, my family and our friends family decided that we wanted mexican food for dinner. We looked around Yelp and found El Dorado and I'm telling you we were very impressed all around. We set the bar pretty high and this restaurant did not disappoint. The service was amazing, friendly and helpful. The food was awesome. We had fish tacos which everyone raved about. The sides of beans and rice were perfect and the mini salsa bar was perfect for adjusting our tacos with flavorful sauces. The owner came over to check on us, he was also very attentive to ensuring the restaurant was tidy. It is a small place, you walk up to the counter to order (we kind of like that) and you grab a seat and they bring the food out to you. We would definitely go back to this place when we are in the area. In fact we really look forward to it. We loved the atmosphere also. Just seemed friendly as we walked in. If you are looking for some fancy mexican restaurant with sit down service, don't let this place dissuade you from eating here. Go have some fun here, we bet you won't regret it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
